New Deer school serves the village of New Deer, about seven miles west of Mintlaw, and the surrounding area. The school has a role of 105 pupils with 20 children in the Nursery. There are 6 full-time equivalent staff:Head Teacher, 5 full-time teachers and a part-time nursery teacher plus Visiting Specialists in a variety of subject areas.
Accommodation comprises of five classrooms, library, music/TV room, general purpose room, large hall and dining area. A former church situated across a pathway from the main building was converted into a gym hall in the mid 1970’s. The school also has its own kitchen and meals are prepared on the premises.
